When studying the Bible remember, it's a book and books should be read from the beginning! Don't pick and choose texts and sections to read. We would also suggest that you read the books of the Bible in a different order than you're accustomed. The Bible that you're accustomed to has the Old Testament divided into four parts, the Pentateuch (books of Moses, Historical Books, Writings and Prophets). Unfortunately, these books were not put in historical order so it can be confusing when reading the Bible as a book. The Bible most people read is not organized according to when the books were written or the historical time-line of the period. Here's a list giving the Books of the Bible in the order they were written. Reading the Bible in chronological order makes it much easier to understand the historical significance of the entire history of the Israelite people. Use this list and the chart below to help you read your Bible in a more intimate way. Old Testament The Law Genesis Exodus Leviticus Numbers Deuteronomy
The Prophets Joshua Judges Samuel Kings Isaiah Jeremiah Ezekiel Hosea Joel Amos Obadiah Jonah Micah Nahum Habakkuh Zephaniah Haggai Zechariah Malachi

the preceding chart was found at http://www.foundationsforfreedom.net/References/OT/OTSurvey/English_Bible_Books.html Be sure you read and understand the section of this web site in order to understand the context of the following texts All texts taken from the New King James Version unless otherwise noted - Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar; let them say, “Spare Your people, O Lord, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the nations (heathen) would rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” Joel 2:17
- As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.” Isaiah 3:12
- For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them, nor do they seek the Lord of hosts. Therefore the Lord will cut off head and tail from Israel, Palm branch and bulrush in one day. The elder and honorable, he is the head; the prophets who teaches lies, he is the tail. For the leaders of this people cause them to err, and those who are led by them are destroyed.” Isaiah 9:13-16
- “And it will be when you say, ‘Why does the Lord our God do all these things to us?’ then you shall answer them, ‘Just as you have forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve aliens (strangers) in a land that is not yours.’” Jeremiah 5:19 (America stopped being our land when we allowed those who didn't found it to pour over the borders by the millions. America stopped being our land when we allowed the media and elite to tell us what to think and do as a people. America stopped being our land when we turned our hearts to mamon and away from our God)
- “And it shall be, when you show this people all these words, and they say to you, ‘Why has the Lord pronounced all this great disaster against us? Or what is our iniquity? Or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’ “then you shall say to them, ‘Because your fathers have forsaken Me,’ says the Lord; ‘they have walked after other gods and have served them and worshiped them, and have forsaken Me and not kept My law. And you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, each one walks according to the imagination of his own evil heart, so that no one listens to Me.” Jeremiah 16:10-12
- “Our inheritance has been turned over to aliens, and our house to foreigners.” Lamentations 5:2
- "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward." Psalm 19:7-11
- Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god, behold, therefore, I will bring strangers against you…” Ezekiel 28:6, 7 (proclamation against the King of Tyre but applicable for us today)
"Then God said, "Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves on the earth."" Genesis 1:26-28 "Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." Deut. 11:18-19 "For You have formed my inward parts; You have covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them." Psalm 139:13-16 "For You separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be Your inheritance (Heritage), as You spoke by the hand of Your servant Moses, when You brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God." 1 Kings 8:53 "For how shall it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I from all the people who are upon the face of the earth." Exodus 33:16 (see also Leviticus 20:22-27) "For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the Holy Seed is intermingled with the peoples of those lands. Indeed, the hand of the LEADERS and RULERS has been foremost in this trespass (sin)." Ezra 9:2 (read the context of this verse!) And Shechaniah the son of Hejiel, one of the sons of Elam, spoke up and said to Ezra, 'We have trespassed against our God, and have taken pagan wives from the peoples of the land; yet now there is hope in Israel in spite of this. Now therefore, let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and those who have been born to them, according to the counsel of my master and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the Law." Ezra 10:2, 3 "And when the Lord your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son...For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth." Deut. 7:2, 3, 6 "Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers." Nehemiah 9:2 (read the context of this verse!) "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness" 1 John 3:4 (Sin is transgression of the LAW) "If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name (Jesus Christ) under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the son of God?" 1 John 5:4, 5 "Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously." 2 Samuel 7:10 ..."Run, speak to this young man, saying: 'Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.'" Zechariah 2:4, 5 "Thus says the Lord: 'If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done,' says the Lord." Jeremiah 31:37 "Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd does his flock." Jeremiah 31:10 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children." Hosea 4:6 "After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely." Ezekiel 38:8
