The media and educational establishment has done an admirable job of propaganda against White Southern Heritage
Did you know that there are Black people who are proud of their Southern Heritage? Of course, they're considered "race traitors" H. K. Edgerton, a black man, runs a web site called Southern Heritage 411 He claims that there are hundred of thousands of black people who are proud of their southern heritage
He also claims that at least 50,000 blacks served for the Confederate cause, not all of them against their will He's absolutely right

So, if blacks served in the Confederate forces, willingly sacrificing their lives for their masters what is the truth about Southern Heritage? FACT: The U.S. Constitution guaranteed the right to own slaves FACT: The war was not fought over slavery, that was just an excuse FACT: The greedy northern elite who caused the war are the same northern elite that are pushing the disastrous agenda in Washington DC today FACT: There were slaves in the north! FACT: Less than 5% of southerners owned slaves in 1860 FACT: Northern states used a form of White slavery at this time in their factories that was more inhumane than the black slavery in the south FACT: Most northern states by law would not allow blacks to migrate to their states and that is one reason why the "Underground Railroad" went either to Canada or west http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/underground/routes.htm FACT: The other reason? Northern states recognized the rights of individual states and, by law, returned runaway slaves to their owners FACT: Even during the war, runaway slaves were returned by the Union forces! FACT: The United States Constitution recognized slavery FACT: When the American colonies formed into States after the Revolutionary war, it was understood that each state retained jurisdiction over all local and domestic institutions and the federal government would be limited FACT: Slavery was a domestic institution FACT: The northern states abolished slavery, as was their right FACT: The southern states kept slavery, as was their right FACT: When the northern states were agitating for southern states to abolish slavery, they had their own form of slavery in northern factories which maimed and killed Whites FACT: Slaves were protected by law FACT: Southerners believed they had the absolute right to leave the Union FACT: The Emancipation Proclamation was a political move. President Abraham Lincoln did not free the slaves anywhere except in the "rebellious" states where he had no power FACT: Slavery existed in the northern states up until 1850, and even later FACT: Robert E. Lee surrendered the troops, Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America, never did FACT: Slavery would have ended in another 20 years or so and everyone in power knew it FACT: The northern elite (Republicans) wanted to subjugate the south and the war accomplished their goal FACT: These same Radical Republicans wanted the negro vote for political purposes and decided to punish southern Whites in order to gain this power
Jefferson Davis, made a resolution before the Senate, February 2, 1860: In it he reminded the senators that when each State adopted the constitution, they were free and independent sovereignties, and that as a whole they had an obligation to come to the aid of each other, not attack. He reminded them as well that slavery was constitutional, and that no state had the right to discriminate upon the sovereign capacity of another state He told them that attempting to deny the constitution to any state was hostile, subversive of the Constitution, and revolutionary and would lead states to act. Then on February 29, 1860, Jefferson Davis replied to a speech that William H. Seward made, a very militant and outspoken Republican who was agitating for a fight. Davis did not mince his words: "He charged Seward with hypocrisy, stating that Seward is breaking the Constitution. Davis states that in southern society, Whites are equal. But in the north, "your own menial who blacks your boots, drives your carriage, who wears your livery, and is your own in every sense of the word, is not your equal; and such is society wherever negro slavery is not the substratum on which the white race is elevated to its true dignity. We, however, have no theory to press upon you; we leave you to such institutions as you may prefer; but when you assail ours, we come to the vindication of our institutions by showing you that all your phrases are false; that we are the freemen. With us, and with us alone, as I believe, the white man attains to his true dignity in the Government." Davis finished by saying, "I thank my God, that in the state of society where I reside, we have no scenes so revolting as these (speaking about the juvenile penitentiaries, beggars thronging the streets, work-houses and insane asylums in the north). Why then not address yourselves to the evils which you have at home? Why not confine your inquiries to the remedial measures which will relieve the suffering of and stop the progress of crime among your own people? Very intent in looking into the distance for the mote in your brother's eye, is it to be wondered that we turn back and point to the beam in your own?"
You see, Davis knew that the northern states had Black Codes which restricted every facet of life for their blacks Over 90% of blacks lived in the South Blacks living in the north were severely restricted Most blacks living in the north could not vote! Blacks who were freed, could not move north, that's why the Underground Railroad went to Canada and the West Whites who were in the "underclass" were treated as "white trash" Seward and men like him, the "northern elites", the Yankees were hypocrites And Davis knew it
Robert E. Lee wrote a letter in 1856 in response to a speech given by President Pierce. In it he said: "There are few, I believe, in this enlightened age, who will not acknowledge that slavery as an institution is a moral and political evil. It is idle to expatiate on its disadvantages. It think it is a greater evil to the white than to the colored race. While my feelings are strongly enlisted on behalf of the latter, my sympathies are more deeply engaged for the former. The blacks are immeasurably better off here than in Africa, morally, physically, and socially." He goes on to say that slavery will one day end but that only God knows when and it should be left up to Him to decide the exact timing. Lee closes with this thought: "Is it not strange that the descendants of those Pilgrim Fathers who crossed the Atlantic to preserve their own freedom have always proved the most intolerant of the spiritual liberty of others?"
So while these men talked about keeping the Union together and letting God decide when slavery would end, men like Seward were calling for revolution: "I know, and you know, that a revolution has begun. I know, and all the world knows, that revolutions never go backward....While the government of the United States, under the conduct of the Democratic party, has been all that time surrendering one plain and castle after another to slavery, the people of the United States have been no less steadily and perseveringly gathering together the forces with which to recover back again all the fields and all the castles which have been lost, and to confound and overthrow, by one decisive blow, the betrayers of the constitution and freedom forever." Seward got what he wanted the War of Northern Aggression cost hundreds of thousands of lives

Then came the true crime Reconstruction Not content with reconstruction under President Andrew Johnson Radical Republicans in the Senate pushed through a form of punitive reconstruction that finished the destruction of the South, including race relations between Whites and blacks Most historians will tell you that the White southerners wanted to re-enslave their blacks This is not true What is true is that the Whites recognized that the blacks had been subjugated for generations For the most part they had no knowledge of government, they were illiterate, and entirely dependent It would take time for the ex-slaves, as a whole, to learn what it meant to be free Remember, northern states had laws restricting their free blacks! Yet they decided that the southern states needed "help" figuring out what to do with newly freed slaves Carpetbaggers descended on the south No White man who had participated in the Confederacy could vote Blacks, most of whom were ex-slaves and could not read, and Northern outsiders ran the state governments Crime -- the newly freed slaves were out of control
Reconstruction governments robbed the southern states of millions Alabama's debt went from just over eight million dollars to over $25,500,000 South Carolina was saddled with a debt of over $25,000,000 Georgia's debt went from just under six million dollars to over $18,000,000 Louisiana debt went over $40,000,000 The other states were robbed in equal numbers
